Dear all,
I hope the first week at your new school has gone well. You should have been invited to a quick one-to-one catch up with your link director next week. This is a good early opportunity to check that everything is as it should be. Link directors for SE2 are as follows:
Edwina: Guilsborough, Huxlow, Rushden and EWS North (science only)
Nathan: Sponne, SUTC, EWS South, Stantonbury, SBE.
Ann: Moulton, CCS, Lawrence Sheriff, Abbeyfield, EWS North (Maths only) and Campion.
You should have received a questionnaire form Assie relating to SE1. Please take the time to fill this in. Your feedback helps us ensure that all trainees have a really positive school experience - this year and in the future. Thank you to all of you who have already done this.
Next week:
Monday's central training has had to be re-arranged as our police liaison officer is unable to deliver for us. There is an on-line government course in its place, which can be completed at home. The day will now start with an inclusion session on LAC/PLAC delivered by Sally Perkins from Northampton Primary Academy Trust. This is followed by How Pupils Learn 7 where Nathan will recap important strategies and points around CLT and cognitive architecture. The day will finish around 1.30pm. You are then free to return home to complete the Prevent training. Here is the link: Prevent duty training: Learn how to support people susceptible to radicalisation | Prevent duty training
You should choose Course 1: Awareness course.
Wednesday there is training with Elodie Fleet from the NEU. This is another inclusion focused training session, this time looking at welcoming and working with refugees. This is a Zoom training session starting at 4pm.
You are now teaching 40%. If you are operating a two week timetable, you will need to double up. Here is the grid for guidance:

Even though you are not yet teaching your other classes, I would advise taking the opportunity to observe wherever possible. Double up and make one of them your focused observation.
Things to be working on:
UA2. There will be an optional Drop In on Zoom for any questions relating to UA2 with David and myself on Tuesday 3rd March 3.30pm.
Class Context sheets for your new classes and Subject Task 2. Curriculum Tasks Booklet 2025-26 - Google Docs. It would be an excellent idea to introduce yourself to the SEND department and even take classlists with you. I am sure they would love it if you came and asked for advice on the pupils you will be teaching. They will probably advise you on seating plans also.
Student Voice and Questions:
There have been no questions this week. Please remember to share any thoughts, concerns or queries about your experience and training with your Student Voice representatives. You can, of course, speak directly to any of us.
Top Tip:
Make a strong start with your informal observation book. Give it to all your teachers to complete, Have a post-it note with your current targets to ensure they give you sharply focused feedback.
Enjoy the weekend, everyone.
Best wishes
Ann
