Science 11-18
This GUTP Science PGCE prepares trainees to teach either Biology, Chemistry or Physics across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. In addition, all of our partner schools require teachers to teach general science up to GCSE level. This course is carefully tailored to meet the Teachers’ Standards and includes training on:

Training for each subject is undertaken through a number of twilight sessions and subject training days held in the various schools throughout the academic year during the normal working week.
Support during the course
The Science PGCE is co-ordinated and managed by an experienced science teacher from one of our partner schools ensuring that your training is up-to-date and relevant to schools. This ensures you the best start in your teaching career. You will also have a dedicated School Based Tutor on both your school placements and a dedicated Link Director. These key staff are there to support and guide you through the course and into your ECT (early career teaching) years.
Entry requirements
Potential trainees will need a relevant degree and grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English (this would equate to a grade 4 or above for the new GCSE). Relevant experience working in the science field may be considered.
